I have already apologized to the people involved, but now I will apologize to all of you.  I truly do not know that much about Facebook and do not have much time to learn, but I just now (through the Holy Spirit) noticed I have a bunch of notes marked "other"  from people not on my Friends list.  So when I read them, I found that several of them are for prayer requests. I will post them here, but I also get some consolation with that Carmelite reflection I posted last month called "Praying Backwards." 

Here are the requests:  James-Joseph who committed suicide in June of 2011 in South Africa, Alex, Byron who committed suicide in October of 2013, and Michael who jumped from a condo. Melinda and Laura are at risk for suicide and also need prayers.  Thank you, and again, I am sorry.

Praying Backwards

Forgive me if I already posted this, but I don't think I did.

A few months ago, I found a little gem of a book in the “free” stuff outside our Adoration chapel. The little book is a book of Carmelite mediations. It has no copyright, but it does have a Nihil Obstat and an Imprimatur from 1965. As I glanced through the meditation titles, one particular one caught my attention. It was titled “Praying Backwards.” As soon as I read it, I knew it was too good to keep to my...self. 
 

                                               PRAYING BACKWARDS
We can never have too much confidence in the good God; He is so mighty and so merciful; as we hope in Him, so shall we receive." St. Therese
There is no such thing as time in God's sight. Time is only for us to use as a path to eternity. For God there is no past or future; all persons and events are before His eyes this present moment and every moment. Christ, as we know, was comforted by our love and reparation as well as grieved by our sins during His Passion. This thought should be a great consolation to us, especially when we are worried about the salvation of a loved one. Was that soul prepared for death? . . . Did I pray enough? . . . Did I sacrifice enough? ... If only I had done more we say to ourselves anxiously over and over again. In¬stead of grieving as one who has no hope, we should realize that there is still time to pray and will be time as long as we live.
Let us trust then in God's eternal mercy and pray and sacrifice as though that loved one were still on earth. No matter how great our love for that soul, God's love is infinitely greater. He sees our tears, He hears our prayers, and He will judge with a just but loving judgment.




I think it is very comforting to know this, especially when praying for those who have committed suicide. How consoling to know we can still pray for their eternal salvation.

Good news!

On April 23, 2013, I wrote a letter to Pope Francis and asked him to bless our Divine Mercy for Lost Souls ministry. I said in the letter that because he is for the poor and forgotten, who could be more poor and forgotten than the souls in... Purgatory who have committed suicide since most people think they all go to hell (which we know is not true). Anyway, I never expected to get a letter back, but today I got a letter from the Vatican saying the Pope thanked me for my letter and was sending a blessing! It was very short, but nevertheless, I am very excited about this. He does not read English, so someone had to have translated it for him. Also included was this picture of him and his coat of arms on the back. Thank you, Pope Francis!

A prayer request under the snow

The snow melted and I found a newspaper in a plastic bag that had been under the snow for over a week. I was going to throw it in the recycling, but thought maybe I should glance through it to see if there was anything I was supposed to read - and sure enough there was.  There was a big article about a lawsuit over a suicide of a lady named Kimberly who killed herself in January of 2010. The lawsuit alleges that the suicide was due to medication that was not monitored properly. I thank God that the paper did not blow away so that I could post this and we could all pray for Kimberly. Good news on Quinn who took his life a few days before Christmas and did not believe in God. His brother was in Cologne Germany working and had a devotion to the Three Wise Men and prayed at the Cathedral devoted to them there. He came home and learned of his brothers suicide and two days later he was given a dream and Jesus said "Be at Peace, your brother is with me". Today was the funeral on the day of The Three Wise Men. Praise be to Jesus!
